Tell us a little bit about yourself!
Hi, my name is Day! I am a queer and non-binary trans clinical therapist who works with adolescents and adults in individual, relationship, and family therapy. I offer counseling services for those who experience or have experienced anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual and/or gender identity development as well as assisting individuals and partners in obtaining a deeper understanding of their relationships.
I have a passion for working with those who have experienced complex trauma, those within a relationship structure minority, and queer and gender-expansive youth. I find I work well with clients who have similar experiences to those of my own.
When did you first know that you wanted to pursue this career path/how have your interests and passions developed over time?
I first realized I wanted to be a therapist when I was sitting in the therapy room as a client myself. I began my journey pursuing careers in veterinary medicine and wildlife conservation, as I originally desired to work with animals. However, I realized I could use some of my lived experience to assist others in the same way that my own therapist helped me. I always knew I wanted to work with those who have experienced complex trauma, and as I learned more about it, I developed an interest in attachment theory, somatics, and relational work. I enjoy applying these principles to both my work with individuals as well as my work with relationships.
Do you have any creative outlets or interests? Tell us about them!
I love to spend time out in nature whether I'm birding, hiking with my dogs, or just spending time amongst the trees.
Which of GWB’s values do you feel connected to? Why?
All of them! Though, I feel most connected to anti-oppression, compassion, and vulnerability.
Anti-Oppression: I believe it is important to acknowledge and recognize the systemic factors contributing to mental health as well as work to combat and dismantle systems of oppression.
Compassion: I choose to live my life through a lens of compassion for all.
Vulnerability: With vulnerability comes great strength, as it is at the core of connection.
What is your go-to coffee or tea order?
4 shots of espresso, soy milk, ice, and some vanilla bean (:
